Q&A 2014 CPC/CPC-H Exam

I purchased my exam books last year (2013 version) and haven't signed up to take the exam yet. I realize that I am at a disadvantage, because I didn't attempt the exam last year, but wanted to know if I could still pass the exam this year (2014) without having the newest version (2014) readily available? I know there are a lot of new code changes. Do you recommend I purchase the 2014 version beforehand or just use mine from last year? I went to the AAPC website and read that they recommend the newest version, but you could use the 2012 version also. Thanks for any helpful hints!

You can get away with an older ICD-9-CM Manual but you should have a 2014 Professional CPT version. Perhaps you can borrow the HCPCS. And if you're using the technique of Bubbling & Highlighting you'll definitely want your own CPT Manual for the current year.

Happy Studying!

Hi, Sally, I am in the same boat. I have 2013 books, and it will be later this year before I finish, too.

Hi Sally, Laureen is right. You can refer the older version. The basics are the same. The major changes are in the codes that will be in use.
